So during my trip in Ghana, I had the opportunity to meet Actress and Producer, Maame Adjei. Since moving from America back home to Ghana in 2012, celebrating her fifth year anniversary on December 1st; Maame has delved deeper into her love for the arts and creative scenes.
What would you tell your younger/teenage self?
The biggest thing is don’t be afraid. I was so fearful as a younger person. Just afraid of everything, afraid of taking chances, afraid of pursuing whatever you wanted to pursue.
Don’t be afraid. This is the only life you have. Do it!
What advice would you give upcoming creatives?
Collaborations. Finding people you look up to, that inspire you work you like and reach out to them. The worst that could happen is they don’t respond. But if they do that brings out something amazing especially if you’re in a country where the creative scene is new or now really popping up, collaboration just brings the force up; so always reach out to people no matter how out there it feels.
